Flambé Bananas with Rhum and Chocolate Sauce

Friend coming for diner to realise that I have forgotten about dessert! So looking around and seeing the good old reliable always there.  Being French  I always have dark rhum in the press for cooking, it is delicious with so many dessert.

Let’s get cooking!


For 2 people

  • Prep Time : 10 minutes
  • Cook Time : 5 minutes



1/ In a little bowl break your chocolate square and add 2 soup spoons of water and in the microwave for 20 seconds, stir the mix , when coming out the microwave the chocolate should not be completely melted, be careful with that or your chocolate will turn grainy. Add more water if require, the sauce should be glossy and runny.

2/ Now heat up your fry pan on a high heat, when smoke start, take your fry pan out of the heat, add in the butter and the bananas peeled and cut in two lengthways. Turn down your heat to medium, sprinkle the sugar on top of your bananas and cook until golden brown (2-3mn).Pour in the rhum in a bowl and warm it up in the microwave for 20 seconds. As soon as you flip the bananas on the other side wait 10 seconds and pour in the warm rhum switch off the ring and with a match flambé your bananas.

3/ Plate your Flambé bananas covering them with the rhum and now for the very naughty part, smothered them with the chocolate sauce……..!
