Cabbage Parcels

This recipe is an all time winner for children to actually eat cabbage. Just one tip, do not forget to give extra tomato sauce when serving the parcels.

For 4-6 people

  • Prep Time : 20 minutes
  • Cook Time : 25 minutes



1/ Take the cabbage leaves individually and put them in a pot (towards the ends the yellow leaves will be harder to separate from the cabbage, do not worry too much if they break) when you cannot break leaves from the cabbage keep the end of the cabbage for another meal. Add the hot water on top of it but do not drown your cabbage, the less water the more nutrients in your plate .Cooked it for approx. 10 to 15mn, drain and leave to cool down.

2/ In a food processor mince your onion and garlic.

3/ Then combine the meat and the rest of the spices with the onion and garlic together. Do mix well; it is important for the taste.

4/ Take the cabbage leaves one at time and in the middle put a tablespoon of the stuffing and close the leaf over, then place it in an oven dish and repeat it until there are no more cabbage leaves or stuffing.

5/ Pour the jar of tomato sauce on top of the parcels and cook it for about 30-40mn in the oven gas mark6 (200C) until you see the juice (of the meat) in the bottom of the dish.

Serve on a bed of rice.
